as Soil Sickness this problem is caused by the the pathogenic organisms
present in the soils in most mature orchards.
Lasting up to 20
years, these pathogens reduce the root growth of young fruit trees when the site
is replanted.
Poor root
development leads to reduced vegetative growth and poor fruit yields throughout
the life of the replanted orchard.
